- Geçmişte olanlardan bahsedilirken Past Simple kullanılır:

was / were + geçmişte olan gerçek
John F. Kennedy was an American president. (John F. Kennedy Amerika başkanıydı.)
Our first house was in the centre of town. (İlk evimiz şehrin merkezindeydi.)
A: Were your answers correct? (A: Cevaplarınız doğru muydu?)
B: No, they were all wrong! (B: Hayır hepsi yanlıştı! )
Paula wasn't the first person at the party. (Paula partideki ilk kişi değildi.)

It was cold yesterday.(Dün soğuktu.)
They were tired after the journey. (Seyahattan sonra yorgundular)
The train was late again this morning.(Tren bu sabah yine gecikti.)
A: Were your exams easy? (A: Sınavlarınız kolay mıydı? )
